Review of The Bridge
The Bridge by Andrew Palmer is a historical novel that contains 31 chapters and 559 pages. Has anyone had a point in their lives where they do something wrong and, as hard as it may seem, they try to fix it? Well, this book shows us different characters dealing with their difficulties the best they can. It also elaborates on the importance of having a good work ethic. It is not only entertaining, but also educational. Furthermore, it includes themes of love, family, justice, redemption, ambition, and so on.
The novel, The Bridge, begins in an old setting at a construction site with engineers building a bridge. It later enters modernity and shows us the complexities engineering students face. For an assignment, Esther, who is an A student, gets paired up with Ben, who is stereotyped as "unserious." They both travel back in time in search of the origin and truth of the iron ring and the disaster that occurred on the site. Read this book to uncover the mysteries Ben and Esther will encounter as they drive into the past.
The Bridge by Andrew Palmer is an entertaining coming-of-age novel, which the author executed splendidly. The author hones his skills in English to perfection, as shown in the book. His diction is not only simple but also easy to comprehend. What I love most about this book is how elaborate the author's executions were, to the point that I could visualize the scenes and understand the characters. Another attribute I liked about this book is its pace. I liked how the book started gracefully and came to an end with equal grace. Each character in the book had their spotlight, which was well executed. No character was underdeveloped; all the characters had their personalities and roles to play. Andrew Palmer has flawlessly approached viewing past or historic teachings through modern lenses, helping us understand how they thought and lived their lives.
The book The Bridge has countless amazing qualities, but one that did not quite sit well with me was how the author vaguely interchanges between the modern setting and the historical setting, which, I believe, will be confusing for some readers and will prove difficult for them to keep up with.
The Bridge by Andrew Palmer was skillfully plotted with good diction and was very captivating. It was exceptionally well edited, as I could not find any errors while reading it. I will rate this book 4 out of 4 stars because the author did great with the character representation and the suspense in the book made it hard for me to stop. The book was so fascinating that I would anticipate what would happen next after each page.
I recommend this book to lovers of mystery as they will find the thrills, anticipation, and suspense to be quite interesting.
