The story is about Abigail Carrington who sails to England to marry the man she has been in love with childhood. She is mislead to believe that the Marquis of Darfield has been in love with her since she was a child. This misconception is brought to fruit by her father for reasons that is never made clear to the reader. Ms. London has written a beautiful book with rich characters. My only complaint is the lack of explanation by the father to his daughter.
