Despite the book's insightful story and well-developed characters, the amalgamation of historical fiction, political and societal issues, and an unsatisfying ending did not align with my reading preferences. Nice review.

I enjoy reading historical fiction, but the unsatisfactory ending makes me hesitant. The story sounds interesting, though, especially because of how unpredictable life is. Thanks for the review!

The author adeptly captures the nuances of everyday life and its challenges throughout the narrative, providing a compelling read. While the ending may not align with the overall excellence of the work, the depiction of ordinary life and relatable situations makes it a worthwhile read.

I enjoy rrading historical fiction & at the same time I've never read anything during the Vietnam War 1969 era. So I figure this book will be the first for that. Im curious to find out about the dilemma of choices during the veteran generations back then. A good read to history buffs who enjoy fictions like me.

In 1969, amid the Vietnam War, Rachel rebels, joining protests. Drafted Steve falls in love in Vietnam. Their lives intertwine with unexpected challenges. Great storyline.

I would want to know how Rachel fits into the story of Spanner or if they are two different stories. Thanks for an interesting review.

I’m curious to know how the two stories fit together. Reading through makes me believe the author did a great job to weave and intertwine the plots together.

The characters from the book such as Rachel, Jenny, Rachel's mother and others all make the plot engaging. I would want to learn how their lives were affected by the 1969 Vietnam War in the U.S. Congrats on the book of the day and a satisfactory review.

I find this review intriguing. "Sh*t Happens" seems to delve into complex social and political issues of the Vietnam War era, offering a multifaceted view through the lives of its characters. The dynamics between Rachel and her mother, as well as the challenges faced by Steve in Vietnam, add layers of depth to the narrative. The exploration of love amidst conflict and the consequences of societal upheaval are themes that resonate strongly.

I'm curious to learn more about Rachel's role in the narrative of Spanner or if her story is separate from the main plot. 🤔

The review provides a comprehensive overview of "Sh*t Happens" by Gavin L James, praising its vivid depiction of the 1970s and skillful handling of complex themes. However, the disappointment with the abrupt ending resonates with me. A satisfying conclusion is essential for a fulfilling reading experience. Nonetheless, the book's exploration of societal issues and character development seems compelling, making it worth considering despite its flaws.

I am fascinated by how the Vietnam War is causing dispersion in the US society. I am intrigued by Rachel's decision to participate in anti-war protests. I am interested in the friendship that formed between Rachel and Jenny whom Rachel met during her first protest march.
