Judith Miller Freedom Path Series

Post by KAYKAYKAY60 »

A wonderful Christian story woven around fact.

This post civil war historical fiction focuses on freed slave and sharecropper Ezekial Harban and his three daughters. They are lured west to Nicodemus, Kansas with ownership of land to establish the first black community. The sharecropper families eagerly pack up and leave with little more than the clothes on their backs, but nothing is as promised. When they arrive in Nicodemus, it's wide open plain. The first winter is harsh having only a soddy to live in, which is a hovel dug into the side of a hill. Very little food and no çreature comforts. As a community, the families work together to farm the land and start building their permanent homes and a new life.

The first book in the series is free, First Dawn followed by Morning Sky and Daylight Comes at $5.99 each. Some grammatical errors but nothing so terrible to inhibit reading. Definately worth the read but not the price. I give it a 4 out of 5.
