In life, we are bound to face trials and enjoy them all together. Jennifer Pease’s fictional story, Lilly’s Story, Life and Love in the Goldrush, tells the story of a young girl and her journey to motherhood.

Lilly had lost her parents at a very young and tender age. It caused her to grow up dependent on herself. She faced all her living expenses and practically trained herself with help from Simon, her boss, and her friends, Katherine and Mary. Lilly had auditioned for a new job opportunity, but she was angry when the owner did not give her the job she applied for, even though she was the best person. She declined the offer he later gave her and went over to Elijah, a guy she met at the audition. Elijah starts a pub where Lily can also sing. From this moment on, things took a whole new turn. Read the thrilling story of Lilly’s life in this book.

The book features friendship, family, romance, and love. The book included and showcased all types of love. I love how the author carried readers along in the story. It might be intentional by the author, but as I read the book, I could not stop my imagination from forming its own stories. I shared the different feelings of love, anger, trauma, fear, and anxiety experienced by the characters. It was amazing to watch them grow. I saw Billy grow from a young orphan to a doctor surrounded by loved ones.

The characterization was perfect. I enjoyed all the characters. Watching them grow was beautiful. My favourite character is Lilly. I loved Lilly’s savagery because it reminded me of a movie. Her general attitude, her focused mindset, and a mindset that won’t settle for less are the things that make me love her and that I would want to emulate. I enjoyed the love between Lilly and Elijah. I could not stop laughing when they confessed their jealousy. The book practically details Lilly’s life from beginning to end.

Despite my love for this book, I would give it a four out of five stars rating. The book has so many punctuation errors that it needs re-editing. Also, the book did not contain elements of suspense, which would have spiced things up. Aside from that, I enjoyed the book. Despite the trials, she enjoyed life, especially with her loved ones around her. I also learned a new vocabulary, which excites me.

I recommend this book to lovers of historical fiction and romance books. I must advise against young children reading it due to its sexual rating and profanity level.

I have known a lot of people who live independent life. It could be a boring and very difficult experience. Reading this review now brought a lot of thoughts and I appreciate how you wrote the review. It was catchy.

Being orphaned, especially at a young age is terrible. I can imagine what Lilly passed through while growing up and finding a job. However, it's encouraging to read about her will to survive, which I can guess from this review will lead her to greatness.

I am pleasantly surprised by the review I read of this book. The plot and characters were described in such a way that I felt like I had a good understanding of the book without having to read it myself. The reviewer did a great job of outlining the plot without giving too much away, which only added to my intrigue. Based on the review, I am definitely interested in reading this book and finding out what happens for myself.
