Disturbed Tombs, by Kay A. Oliver, is a book that combines ancient mystery and modern adventure.

There are three different but interwoven strands to the story. The first strand is the tale of an American archaeologist, Dr. Kaili Worthy, who works at the Nile Egyptian Museum in California. In the course of Kaili's investigation of an Egyptian Mummy, she is excited to be able to confirm her identity using modern DNA testing. However, the extraordinary events that follow this are more of a paranormal mystery than a scientific discovery.

The second strand in the book is the tale of two members of Egyptian royalty who have disappeared from the Palace of the Gods. The book recounts why this happened, where they find themselves and how they cope with the change in their circumstances.

Finally, there is the relationship between Kaili and her husband, the local Police Chief. The story tells of several cases he is working on in the modern day and how they are affected by Kaili's investigation.

As the story unfolds, Kaili makes a further amazing discovery that tests her conscience and puts herself, her husband, and her best friend in danger.

This book is a great read, which I enjoyed very much. It is a fast-paced story that kept me continually turning the pages. I did not wish to put the book down until the very last paragraph. It was easy to follow what was happening as the plot unfolded, but it was not at all predictable, and I could not wait to find out what happened at the end of the story. I particularly liked the mix of elements; the mystery and the links to ancient Egypt, the modern-day archaeological adventure, and the present-day crime story, which were all very skilfully woven together. I found the characters well-written, and I felt I got to know them well as the story progressed.

I did not find any negative aspects to this book. I enjoyed the whole story in its entirety.

As I loved the book and did not find any negative aspects, I rate this book 5 out of 5 Stars. In particular, I liked all the different characters, the way the plot evolved, and the twists in the story.

I recommend this book to a wide-ranging audience as it crosses several genres. I recommend it to mystery lovers, those who like historical fantasies, and crime readers. If you enjoy all three of these genres, as I do, then I believe you will love this book.
