I'm not sure this can be considered a historical novel, or perhaps it can because it all takes place in a Boeing B-314, flying boat during the time when Britain declared war on Hitler. Flying boats were a fleeting spot in our history, but they carried with it all the romance of aviation during that period. I love old aircraft. For me, they are like exploring my grandmother's attic. Reading this book was like a visit to a museum of old aircraft.
This was a fun book to read as it contained American gangsters, British aristocrats, German spies, jewel thieves, young people falling in love, older people falling in love, and a dash of corporation intrigue – all of it taking place in a flying boat flying from England to America.
I give this book a rating of 5 out of 5 – hands down!
