British rulers chosen by Rome to reign in 24 AD are competing for power. When Senator Lucius Antonius, a grandson of Marc Antony, arrives in Britannia, his mission is to obtain tributes from King Armen of Cantiaci. Another target of the senator's inquiries are the claims of Armen's exiled son Marrock that he is the rightful successor to the throne of Cantiaci. When tensions rise during negotiations between the senator and the monarch, Catrin, the youngest daughter of the king, intervenes to protect Marcellus, the son of the senator. The two sides plan to exchange hostages until a deal is reached, exchanging King Armen's oldest daughter Vala for Senator Lucius' son Marcellus. King Armen leaves his youngest daughter, the Druid warrior princess Catrin, in charge of guarding Marcellus and discovering more about the Romans' motives. Catrin finds herself getting closer to Marcellus while also learning how to control her magical raven spirit powers. Meanwhile, a prophecy that might ruin her family and her people's future now rests in her hands, and she must determine how to utilize her abilities to destroy it. This leaves her feeling torn between her affection for Marcellus and her responsibilities to her people.

I respected Catrin's powerful, independent, and yet kind personality. I also enjoyed how bold and courageous Marcellus' character was. Linnea Tanner did a fantastic job of weaving historical facts and figures into the plot of this book. I lauded Cynwrig, Belinus, and Decimus for their devotion to their respective communities. Decimus' maturity and dedication to assisting his people in the right direction were admirable.

There was nothing I didn't enjoy about the way Apollo's Raven was written. Nonetheless, there were a few characters I loathed, such as Rhan, Marrock, and Agrona. Their characters, however, were crucial to the plot and didn't take anything away from this book.

I gave this book five out of five stars. This is a result of how much I liked this book's plot. I think the author did an excellent job writing this book. Further, I enjoyed how she incorporated historical facts and figures into the plot line of this book. It was a very good read, and it kept my attention from beginning to end. Moreover, this book had no grammar errors and seemed to have been professionally edited.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romantic historical fiction. I also would suggest this book for an older demographic, such as those 18 and up, because this book contains very little profanity, violence, and sexual content (including an alleged rape incident).
