Being with the person you love is supposed to make you feel like nothing else in the world matters. A lot of blood, sweat, and tears have been shed for the love we believe in, but it's even more difficult when your family stands in the way of the love life you've always wanted. Apollo's Raven: Book One in the Curse of the Clansmen and Kings Series by Linnea Tanner is a historical story about the Kingdom of Cantiaci.

King Anrem swore that none of his children would learn the art of magic, and he disclosed the curse set by his ex-wife Rhan. He also banished and disowned his first son, Marrock, because of his precarious acts. Catrin, the king's last daughter, had seen battleships at the training grounds with her sisters, Mor and Belinus. She hurried to the palace to inform the king of her discovery, and on getting there, she saw Roman visitors.

Senator Lucius Antonius and his son Marcellus had visited the kingdom of Cantiaci to make demands. King Cunobelin accused King Anrem of stopping Roman traders from passing through his kingdom, and he was supporting the banished prince because he promised to put a stop to this. Also, to seal their relationship, King Cunobelin offered the marriage of his son to Vala, the daughter of King Anrem.

I liked this book because Tanner was descriptive and expressive in introducing his characters, with a touch of suspense in the plot. Once you feel like you've figured out what's going on in the book, you will see yourself asking new questions, which made me like the book even more. I enjoyed Catrin's character more because she seemed weak but had the guts to defend whoever she loved. Catrin's power was gripping, though limited, and she would get more robust with more practice. It was interesting that the Romans were not weak and believed in control. I also liked that the Celts didn't treat their women without regard, and these women always stood up for their kingdom.

I didn't have any reason to dislike this book. I recommend this book to people who enjoy romance and historical fantasy stories. I didn't encounter any errors in this book, which shows that Apollo's Raven: Book One in the Curse of the Clansmen and Kings Series by Linnea Tanner was exceptionally well edited. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars because it was very engaging.

I enjoyed reading this book. It was very relaxing and helped me relieve stress. I didn't have to bother about errors or the grammar being advanced.

Another aspect that appealed to me was how they treated their women. From the way, king Anrem treats his wife to how his warriors and other citizens receive her as queen and next in line to the throne. It was a beautiful tale to imagine.

I love how you went about writing this review, I already have so much questions that I can’t wait to have answer to. Questions like what marrock, king anrem’s first son do to get banished from the kingdom.

The dialogue in the book was natural and flowed well. It helped to move the story along and added to the overall characterization of the different characters. The themes of family, loyalty, and duty were explored in a nuanced and thoughtful way. It added depth to the story and made it more than just a simple historical romance.

I wouldn't blame the king for not allowing his children to study the act of magic. Who knows what negative impact it had on him in the past.

It's great that the focus is not solely on romance but on one's responsibility to their community.
Thank you for pointing out that the book may not be suitable for those who are only interested in romance.

I feel the king showed an atom of weakness because it is wrong to step into someone’s territory and make unnecessary demands and still lay accusations on a king.
