This sounds like a great series. I'd like to go back and start with the first book though. Thanks for your review.

Nothing Brown feels that five people are the ideal number for a partnership. He and four friends set out to hunt for gold.
Thank you for a good review.

This review does a great job of setting up the relationship dynamics, which is important for an ensemble cast adventure like this! You seem to really enjoy this genre, which I’m not very familiar with, so I would be curious to know how this novel compares with/stacks up to big names in the historical fiction mystery/adventure space. I think readers who are also familiar with these sorts of stories would find that valuable.

Nothing Brown with old and new companions in tow on a new expedition to find gold yet again! The story is interesting, with murder, loving pets, wilderness, and priceless lessons to be learned. Did they find what they were looking for? It will be fun to know. I sampled the book and found the pace to be good. Thank you for this interesting review. Congrats on BOTD!

This looks like a great book. I love to read historical fiction involving the wilderness. I am a fan of books about gold rush in California and I am very interested in reading about this adventure novel and a gold rush in British Columbia.

Historical novels are not my cup of tea, but this review justified the theme of the book very well. I like how the positives are highlighted in the review while also mentioning the negatives side by side

I have already read and loved it! In fact, I liked both books and can honestly say that I was somewhat disappointed that the author didn't have more books written. With the way the storyline was built and developed, characters interaction and intrigue hold till the end, I truly consider Raymond Maher as a talented and promising author and will eagerly look forward to his new works!

The inherent perils of gold mining are highlighted in this fantastic historical fiction book, along with action, adventure, greed, the coming together of five very different characters. Congrats to the author on winning book of the day.

Thank you for this fantastic review. The Second Five sounds like a fun read! I particularly liked the names of the characters; Mean Mike and Nothing Brown. Honestly, any book involving animals and the wilderness makes me feel at peace while I'm reading. I will definitely be learning more about this book.

A historical background based action filled novel "The Second Five" by Raymond Maher, which follows Brown, his partners, and new companions on the second expedition in the Fraser River. The story appears entertaining to me.
life is only knowing the unknown, we can do this by reading books easily- Online book club is a great place for this. This is what I believe.

The writer has an amazing skill to build the characters so well that the reader is captured and knows the charters in the book. Readers are given a front-seat view of The Secret of The Five where the reading beings to transform the reader's imagination of how each character looks and speaks. The writer also sets the environment so well, the details literally transformed me within the book. If you are looking for an adventure, where you can feel the characters and the journey of the second five, this is the book for you!

It's true, as you said, that gold or wealth is important to people but can also cause them harm on their journey to pursue it. I sampled the book and loved the beginning, so I will give it a try. nice review.

This book reminds me of the movie titled blood diamond.
