The story continues in Dagger's Destiny, the second book in this series, with Princess Catrin attempting to treat her father King Armen's wounds following the prisoner exchange. Yet, King Armen is more worried about the curse that his previous wife, Rhan, cast on him before her demise, as well as the involvement Catrin had in Marcellus the Roman's life being spared. The responses to his queries have convinced him that his daughter deserves retribution for her acts of betrayal. Likewise, Marcellus, who also received a wound during the prisoner exchange, is facing hostility from his fellow Romans, who believe he betrayed Rome by allowing Catrin to lead them into an ambush. Now, Catrin and Marcellus strive to regain their father's and the community's trust in order to save their lives while also attempting to convince them of their love for one another. Will these two ever regain the trust of their fathers and communities, and will their love find a way?

I appreciated how honest and loyal Ferrex's character was. Plus, I found it endearing how much he adored Catrin while respecting her for being a strong Druid Warrior Princess. Moreover, I enjoyed reading more about the developing relationship between Catrin and Marcellus. Further, I liked how Linnea Tanner added more historical facts about the historical figures in the book.

There wasn't anything that I didn't like about this book. I didn't care for some of the characters, though. I still disliked the actions of Rhan, Agrona, and Marrock. Along with those characters, Myrddin was another character in this novel that I didn't care for. These characters added to the interesting plot, so it didn't take anything away from this book. I also didn't like what happened to Catrin's community at the end of the book, but it just made me want to read the third book in this series that much more.

I gave this book five out of five stars. This is because I thought the plot was interesting and the book was very well written. I liked reading more historical facts about the historical figures in this book and the way the author created a storyline including these aspects. There were very few grammatical errors, and it seemed to have been professionally edited.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romance and historical fiction novels. I would suggest this book for an older demographic, such as those 18 and up, because this book contains profanity, violence, and sexual content (including rape scenes).
