Mara, Daughter of the Nile by Eloise Jarvis McGraw is so charming! Honestly, I was a little skeptical about this book at first, seeing as it's geared towards a younger audience. Much to my surprise, this book kept me engaged the whole time, especially towards the end! There was the perfect mixture of action, suspense, and romance sprinkled throughout the story, and the characters felt real and three dimensional. I was very impressed by how modern of a character Mara was for a book written in the 1950s. If you're looking for a fun, light, quick read, I would recommend this book.
I always forget how much I enjoy books about Ancient Egypt until I read one. I have been working my way through Michelle Moran's books, but those are the only other fictional novels set in Ancient Egypt that I can think of off the top of my head. Do y'all have any recommendations? Thanks!
