Apollo's Raven: Curse of Clansmen and Kings by Linnea Tanner is a fictional masterpiece! Part historical fiction and part historical romance with a dash of supernatural gifts thrown in, Tanner's talent for seamlessly weaving the three together to form a literary work of art is undeniable.

Two star-crossed lovers have their newfound bond tested when they are each forced to choose between saving their loved ones and pursuing the chemistry building between them.

Catrin, a warrior princess from the Citanci Tribe during 24 Ad Brittannia, possesses unique gifts and is instantly drawn to the young Roman Diplomat's son, Marcellus, who volunteers to be a guest like hostage in her family's home while her father, King Amren, the Roman diplomat, and a few other leaders make negotiations. With a possible war starting in their near future, and scrambling to keep past enemies and an old curse from coming to pass, Catrin and Marcellus' love seems doomed at every turn.

Tensions rise as King Amren, The Roman Diplomat, and other leaders from Britannia meet to negotiate a way to avoid an all-out war. Marcellus is taken prisoner by the Queen when she receives a false message that the King has been imprisoned by the Romans. Catrin reveals her unique abilities to her family and is in turn locked away with the King's Druidess, Agrona, to care for her. Agrona swears to have the power to remove the "demons" from Catrin and teach her to harness her power, but does Agrona really have Catrin's best interests in mind?

Catrin is overwhelmed with feelings of betrayal and mistrust and must stop at nothing as she races against time to reverse the curse on her family, see her father set safely free, and rescue the man she loves without sparking a raging war.

I chose to give Apollo's Raven: Curse of Clansmen and Kings a rating of 5 out of 5 stars. I gave this rating for several reasons. The book was exceptionally well edited as I did not find a single typo or mistake in the entire book. The never-ending drama and mystery kept me turning pages late into the night, and I loved the way the author develops the characters.

The one thing I did not like about it was the ending. I've never been a fan of cliffhangers, and Apollo's Raven is a doozy. Even though I didn't care for the ending, I still enjoyed the book and am glad I had the opportunity to read it.

If you're a fan of historical fiction mixed with a bit of historical romance and a dash of the supernatural
world tossed in, then you will most likely enjoy this book as much as I did. Linnea Tanner's talent for weaving her story will have you glued to the screen and wanting more until the very last page is read
