This is the story of a man who falls in love with the image and story of an actress from 1896 when he visits a historical hotel. He traverses time to be with her. The writing style his very different. it's in the form of dictation. There is a promise of a great romance from the summary but it falls flat in a lot of ways. The main character, Richard, is this lovestruck man but he comes off more whiny and needy in most of the story and becomes white annoying. We get a little more from Elise but her character in pretty unbelievable as her emotions are so over the top and exaggerated. You are suppose to feel a connection to these characters and I never felt invested in them. so much so that I didn't even cry in the end. I was just glad for it to be over. Save the time and what the movie, Somewhere in Time. Much better.
