This is an absolutely amazing novel. It follows the life of Eleanor of Aquitaine from her point of view. The author really did her research and her ability to capture Eleanor's thoughts and actions are seamless. I also enjoyed this book's accurate depiction of Eleanor's life. It stayed true to history, while still brought in some more thoughtful themes for readers to ponder about how Eleanor lived her life and the kind of things that influenced her as she grew up into a strong figurehead for her people. Overall, a great book. I recommend it to anyone interested in historical fiction.

I love Jean Plaidy...I started reading her books a few months ago, and have been trying to go in order, but some of them are hard to find. I started with the Plantagenet Saga, also starring Eleanor of Aquitaine, and moved onto The Courts of Love after I had read enough of the Tudors to be pretty sick of them. She is such an interesting character...sometimes portrayed as shallow, and ruthless, but always strong for her kingdom and her children. I recently picked up The Summer Queen by Elizabeth Chadwick, but haven't started it. Have you read that one?

As an update, I finished The Summer Queen by Elizabeth Chadwick and I loved it! It was a different perspective about Eleanor's first marriage to King Louis of France, much different than Plaidy's version. I can't wait to read the second book in the series.
