King Amren, a formidable ruler of Britannia, once relied on the magical prowess of his queen, Rhan, to secure victory in battle. However, as her thirst for power grew, she delved into forbidden sorcery, plotting to usurp her own husband's throne. When Amren uncovered her treachery, he enacted a grim fate upon her. But before her execution, Queen Rhan cast a dire curse, foretelling a future where one of Amren's offspring, born of a different queen, would possess the enigmatic raven spirit and formidable powers. This child, destined to unite with her son Marrock, may pose the ultimate threat to King Amren's reign. Is Rhan's curse mere words, or will it write the destiny of Britannia? Explore this captivating historical saga to uncover the chilling truth.

Linnea Tanner's Apollo's Raven is an enthralling historical fiction masterpiece, weaving a tapestry of love, avarice, enchantment, and deceit within the enigmatic realm of King Amren's palace. In the shadows, concealed secrets await discovery, immersing readers in a web of intrigue. As the narrative unfurls, King Amren's anxiety grows, haunted by the looming threat of Rhan's curse and the enigmatic Catrin, who bears its weight. Amidst this turmoil, Marrock's allegiance teeters towards Rome and his father's adversary, Cunobelin, setting the stage for an epic showdown. With every turn of the page, the author masterfully crafts suspense, ensuring that readers remain spellbound, eagerly awaiting the revelation of Rhan's ominous curse. Tanner's storytelling prowess transforms this book into an irresistible page-turner where suspense thrives on every page.

What truly captivated me within this narrative was the illicit romance that blossomed between Catrin and Marcellus, a love entangled in the complex web of the Celtic and Roman worlds. Catrin, a Celtic woman, and Marcellus, a Roman, found themselves bound by a love that defied the chasms of tradition and cultural disparities. Their passionate affection played out against a backdrop of clashing nations, where their love teetered on the precipice of treachery. The poignant conclusion of the book moved me to tears, leaving me eagerly anticipating the next installment to unveil the destiny that awaits these star-crossed lovers.

I found no fault with the book. The author excelled at crafting well-developed characters, ensuring readers could effortlessly engage with them. Linnea's skill in harmonizing various story elements and maintaining a consistently engaging narrative without any lagging scenes is truly commendable.

The book's editing is top-notch, as I discovered no flaws in it. I rate this book five out of five stars because it offers a captivating and well-rounded reading experience. I recommend this book to fans who enjoy stories set in ancient times with a blend of magic and complex relationships.
