[Following is an official OnlineBookClub.org review of "Another Me" by Saundra Terrell.]

I would not have chosen to read Another Me had I known it would contain passages of deviant sexual behavior. The summary mentioned the protagonist getting a job at a brothel in Nevada, but I was shocked by the activities that were described. While some readers may enjoy such content, I was uncomfortable and wished that I had been warned. In addition to that surprising element, a large part of the content involves the main characters and their sexual activities.

The story revolves around the main protagonist, Sage. The people who cause the majority of her conflicts are her spouse, her family, and her friends. Each of them has their own childhood trauma that is unraveled during the narration. Despite some murder, suicide, and health problems, the author, Saundra Terrell, manages to tie up most of the loose ends.

The title and the cover are appropriate for a story of someone living two lives. Terrell mentions her editor in the acknowledgments, and I have to agree that she did an excellent job as I found no grammatical errors. There were a few plot holes and inconsistencies, but they did not impede my reading. Overall, my rating is three out of five stars. I deducted one star for the unexpected erotic content and one star for the discrepancies.

I am giving three positive stars for the way that the author included so many passages that addressed topics such as spouse abuse, police discrimination, Native American culture, and mental health. The theme of "honesty is the best policy" was perfectly portrayed. But if these characters had been truthful in the beginning, there would not have been a story.

Readers who enjoy this genre will find it an easy read that will keep them interested as they follow the different storylines. In spite of my personal revulsion, I was drawn to the plight of Sage and was concerned enough for her happiness to keep reading to the end of the book.

While this book does not appeal to me, I appreciate the thoughtful review. I feel as though content such as that should have a warning for potential readers. Though it does seem as though the characters are quite compelling.

At times the books we pick are not the ones meant for us. Reviews prevent that from happening. I now know what to expect from Another Me. Thank you for your honest review.

We have all been warned! I can see how a lot of readers would be turned away by such content, and not knowing and stumbling upon it...not a great situation to find yourself. I enjoy when an author ties up all the loose ends, it ends up being much more satisfying for me when this is the case. I found your observation that if the characters had been truthful from the beginning, that there would not have been a story ironic and amusing even. Yes, I think compelling is a good adjective to use.
