The second book in the Apollo's Raven trilogy and the follow-up to "Apollo's Raven" is titled "Dagger's Destiny." This installment is set in the Neolithic era, when witchcraft and bloodshed were prevalent, and rulers vied for control of the throne. The central focus of the narrative is the undercover relationship between Roman Marcellus and Celtic princess Catrin. Catrin grapples with the consequences of choosing between her love and her family, often attempting to alter the fate revealed to her, even going so far as to rewrite her father's curse.

The story is rich with occult and mystical aspects, such as shape-shifting, predictions, and the raven's spiritual guidance symbolism. The narrative also explores the cultural divides and individual aspirations that give rise to armed conflict and the ensuing dramatic fighting scenes. What I appreciate most about this novel is how seamlessly the story is interwoven with historical and cultural facts. From rituals to battle strategies and clothing styles, it's evident that the author, Linnea Tanner, conducted extensive research to provide details that align with the plot's objectives while maintaining historical accuracy. Unlike some authors who struggle to integrate such details, Tanner effortlessly incorporates them to advance the narrative and educate the reader. There's nothing about this book that I didn't enjoy.

The editing of this book is commendable, with no discernible errors. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. I particularly enjoyed the exploration of the mystics of the prehistoric druids, a theme that runs richly throughout the story. I recommend this book to those who appreciate historical traditions presented authentically. If you're interested in a tale of love persevering in the face of severe challenges, this book is a must-read. You will not regret reading this book if you like historical novels. Note, however, that mature and suggestive material is prevalent in this work.
