This wonderful historical novel by Joe Epley shows the life of David Fanning who stayed loyal to the crown. The revolutionary war was fought by the early colonists, with help from the Indians against the British and also between the Whigs and the Tories. David Fanning the main character in the story is captured many times and manages to escape, often with only his life. Joe Epley shows his readers a well researched story about the early days of colonial America. One of my favorite genres is historical fiction and Joe Epley has true talent to bring to life a story that helps to understand the past. The early days of colonial America were difficult and many did not live to be 30 years old. This novel is a great read. If you are interested in the early history of America this book will show some insights about what some of the early colonists had to deal with. Well written, with exciting characters. While many early Americans wanted to break away from English rule David Fanning showed his loyalty. I have rated this novel a solid 5 stars and would love to read more of Joe Epley's works.
