Crows and Angels is a historical fiction novel written by Leisa Ebere set in the 1800’s during the time of President Lincoln. From beautiful Norway to the wilds of the Dakota territories we find the protagonist, Hannah using her special “gifting” to help and heal people wherever she travels. Through many trials and tribulations and finding true love, Hannah finds herself relying on her gifts more and more as they grow stronger to help her fulfill her destiny.

When Hannah’s father uproots their family from their home in Norway to settle land in the Dakota territories, her faith and peace are definitely tested in every way possible. Through her travels Hannah discovers that her gifts of healing and second sight are imperative to the safety of the Lakota Sioux Indians, as she begins to realize her calling, her passion for protecting the Sioux grows beyond anything she could have imagined.

Crows and Angels is a beautiful, first person narrated novel, that will transport the reader back in time to when the buffalo roamed free and America was attempting to reunite itself in the middle of the Civil War. The lovely dialog will make one feel the scariness of leaving their home country for uncharted territory, all while embracing the excitement of the unknown. Hannah’s character is quite charming with her desire to help everyone possible, the reader won’t be able to help cheering her on throughout the entire novel. The secondary characters are very well rounded and definitely help to fill out Hannah’s story and missions. The novel lacks any serious lulls and is very well edited, which aids in the over all feel of the novel. Readers will find themselves completely immersed throughout the entire novel and wishing for more.

When I first began reading this novel, I was slightly skeptical of how much I would enjoy it. The premise sounded a little mystical to me, but the promise of 1800’s America was too much for me to turn down. I was pleasantly surprised from the very beginning, and completely enthralled by Hannah’s story. Between the beauty of the historical aspect of the novel with its romantic additive to the trials and tribulations of the characters, I was completely captivated.

I whole-heartedly give Crows and Angels a 4 out of 4 stars. I believe that this novel will entice fans of historical fiction, but also completely captivate any reader who is looking for a unique story to wrap themselves up in.

I love that it is a historical fiction with a touch of supernatural to it. Usually historical fictions doesn't have much fantasy or supernatural elements. So I love the combination.

Great Review! ?

I think this sounds quite interesting. It's not often you find historical fiction that has supernatural included within. Sounds like something I would enjoy. Thanks for the review.
