History and wars always attract my attention. We can understand from the picture on the cover that it is a story told through the eyes of the soldiers on both sides. The Shot Not Heard Around the World by Charlie Damitz allows us to look at it from a reverse perspective.
Charlie Damitz has drawn us a portrait of what the world would be like if people preferred to keep each other alive instead of killing each other. This world is described so beautifully that life could be so beautiful without war.
Doctor Thorndike, Jeremy, and the rescued enemy soldier Roger Poole. The story of three different men who saved and helped people and united on this path in 1775 with limited means, technology, and poverty.
I think "being human" is the most important message from Charlie Damitz. A point that he also underlines in his book is “to feel the power and energy of keeping alive rather than the depressive feeling of killing.”
As Charlie Damitz says in his book, “Despite its inherent violence and tragedy, there is harmony and beauty in nature.” and another paragraph is “Suddenly the Redcoat turned in my direction, and our eyes met. In that instant, I saw not an enemy but a father—not my father but someone’s father. My inner voice asked, If you can’t kill your own father, how can you kill someone else’s father? The moment seemed to last forever, but I finally answered my inner voice by relaxing my grip on my musket.”
The author describes the scenes beautifully by putting into words the points where words are inadequate.
I cannot say anything negative about the book. I gave the book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars. It was well edited and written, with no flaws.
It's a book that, I think, has an age limit. I wouldn't recommend it for children to read, but I think it is a book that young people will definitely benefit from as they develop a vision for themselves. It is also a very well-constructed and well-written book for history lovers.
