Truth and Evil: A Historical Fiction Novelette by G. Edward Martin is about a young German soldier who raped a beautiful young woman he thought was less than human during WWII. After committing this crime, he is killed by a bomb and finds himself standing before God, who sends him back to Earth to tell the truth. What is the truth God wants him to speak? Is he successful? Why did God give this evil man a second chance at life? Grab a copy of this fascinating book to find out.

This short, 59-page book is a quick read that can be read in one sitting. However, I encountered many thought-provoking messages about how humanity is being destroyed that kept me thinking for a long time. I could understand how the young soldier felt proud to serve his country and believed he was doing the right thing by fighting in this war. I cannot help but wonder how many of our young soldiers go off to war and become insensitive to the evil deeds they are forced to or willingly commit when confronting an enemy. Before reading this book, I had never considered the connections between good and evil. I learned a few German words, as G. Edward Martin provided translations when they were used.

As the author cautioned, this book is disturbing to read because it made me think of our society today and made me realize that the author is correct in contending that we have not changed our views or actions since WWII occurred. As I was reading this book, I was disappointed that the young soldier had no name, but the explanation at the end brought this book to a fantastic end.

Although government or military officials may be offended by some of this book’s content, a lot of evil actions that go against God happen during wars. This novelette is part of the author's second novel, titled The Flower from the Garbage, which I would like to read. I gave this fascinating and professionally edited book 5 out of 5 stars because I enjoyed reading it, it was well-written, and I found no negative aspects to mention.

This Christian book is best suited for mature readers who believe in God. The gory content is consistent with any book written in a war setting, but it may be traumatic or offensive to younger readers or those who have served in the military. The sexual content, while brutal, is non-descriptive, and there is only minor profanity.
