Truth and Evil:
A Historical Fiction Novelette Set During WW2
by G. Edward Martin

Truth and Evil is a fictitious story that takes place during the harrowing times of WW2. Living through untold horrors, our young German soldier began to believe he was invincible. Immediately after he commits the very heinous act of rape, he is shot and dies. When his soul is ejected from his body and hurled through the Aether, he finds himself before the almighty God for judgment.

Engulfed in bright light and completely confused, the young man begins a journey of enlightenment. God sends him back to the earth to teach him about his unconditional love. It takes multiple trips back to earth for the young man to understand that God had been with him from his birth to the day of his death and only wanted what was best for him.

On one such trip, the young man encounters pure evil in the form of Satan. He is shocked by the sheer beauty and intelligence of his adversary. Through his pain and confusion, there emerges a new understanding. Now, he comprehends what God has seen in him all along. He resolves to always stand up for what is right. He inspires those around him to do the same through his selfless actions. The young man learns that sometimes it only takes one person to take a stand, and others will follow. By following his heart, he changed the course of history.

This book is a powerful story that is dark and challenging yet uplifting and enlightening at the same time. Mr. Martin wrote the story for the mature reader. Due to its sexual, violent, and graphic content, I would recommend this book only to those comfortable reading this type of material.

I was captivated by the story and anxiously awaited the ending. There were no negatives to list. This story inspired me, and I would change nothing. Therefore, I will rate the book 5 out of 5.
