Apollo's Raven by Linnea Tanner is a historical fiction/fantasy novel. It is the tale of a Celtic princess and her duty to her people. Princess Catrin, the youngest daughter of King Amren, the King of Cantiaci, had been born with a raven spirit and had been destined for greatness. This young princess had the responsibility of caring for her family and changing the curse that had been laid on her father long before she was born. When her half-brother comes back to take over her father's throne, he returns with the Romans. Senator Lucius Antonius arrives with his son Marcellus as an envoy of the Roman emperor to tell King Amren of the Roman demands and their intention to support Marrock. Catrin develops an attraction for Marcellus, and their love grows. They end up pledging themselves to each other, thus further intertwining their destinies. Can this young princess save her people as well as protect the one that she loves?

In Apollo's Raven, the author blends history with mythology and fantasy. Some of the characters in this novel are actual historical people who existed in the past. It's a story of love, betrayal, soulmates, and forbidden love. The story is set in ancient times, and there is magic, druids, and shape-shifting in this exciting fantasy novel.

My favorite character in the book is Princess Catrin, the protagonist. Her dedication to her family, first of all, is what attracted me to this particular character. I also enjoyed reading about her love story and her heroics. I look forward to reading more about her in the coming books in this series.

Reading through this novel, I could find no negatives about the book or any dislike at all for the book. The characters played their roles well, and the book was arranged well and free of errors, for which I commend the editor for such exceptional editing. The first book in this series has set the tone for what I believe will be a truly interesting series.

This book is one of the finest fantasy novels that I have ever read. It has a heroine who is lovable and powerful enough to protect those she loves. The storyline was epic, and the book was a real page-turner. I recommend this book to fiction lovers; it's a great read for lovers of fantasy, stories of myth and magic, ancient prophecies, and the triumph of love.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars because of its engaging content. I recommend this book to lovers of fiction, fantasy, and epic tales of love and heroism.
