The Watchmen's Chronicle is an autobiography on the life of Raymond Moore and the hardships faced by him in a hundred years which made his soul tougher and tougher. It is plotted and drawn into shape by Michael Tsaphah. It has 306 pages that are like doses of a sleeping curse.
This is a tale of a young boy who suffered so much pain in an age when kids don't even know what pain is. He got separated from his biological father, witnessed his stepfather's corpse, saw the horrible scene of his mother being raped and then losing her senses, and then he got separated from his step siblings and in that process, he was thrown in foster system. Sufferings didn't end there, after years of serving in CIA, Army, White house and Watchmen's counsel, he ended up behind the bars and got charged with the accusation of being a traitor by the very person whom he called his son. Breathing his last moments in jail, he revealed his story and in that process many secrets also got revealed like what was his existence and how he gave meaning to it? how much did he dedicate to his religion and preaching religion? Was he really a traitor of that bloodthirsty state or was he a saviour for those who couldn't protect themselves? To learn the answers of all these questions, you have to make your journey through The Watchmen's Chronicle
What I admired the most about this novel was that it made this very clear that no matter how hard you try, you can't pet a dragon, nor can you tame a wolf. You learn that a snake doesn't even think once before eating it's own eggs, then who the hell are you when you aren't even blood related to it. Everyone needs to write it with hot metal on their skin so that they would never forget it. And if you forget it, you'll end up having a fate like Roy. Another admiring thing is that Roy kept fighting through all the stages of his life like a perfect solider. That motivated me to do the same.
Moving onto the bad side of the novel, it was so horrible to read, besides the two lessons that it taught me that I have mentioned earlier. Everything was so confusing that most of the time I didn't even know who the writer was talking about. It seemed like everything was mingled into each other so much that it was hard to make sense out of words. Moving onto the most spoiled factor of novel, it was all about Christianity, its history and characters that I wasn't familiar with. All of it made me more confused to move on with the story. Another thing which I would like to enlighten is that I respect every religion with my full heart, but it somehow limits your audience when your book is all about a religion in which some proportion of the audience don't believe in. I mean I might sound like an evil queen who is just cursing and cursing the book, but honestly I love exploring and knowing history of religions and states, but this novel didn't do it the right way. It's the worst one that I have ever read before. Furthermore, all of these things were acting as hurdles to stop me from completing my journey, but as I was inspired by Ray so I did complete my journey.
I think the main plot was worth writing but the writer ruined everything in between those scenes and details. As far as grammatical errors are concerned, I didn't find any grammatical error, which increases its points in my score card. I would rate it 1 out of 4 because it doesn't deserve much. It's not even worth reading. It sank my heart because when I read the summary of the novel before starting it, it gave me a totally different idea and I was sure that I would love it. But you see, you break your heart when you have too high hopes for something which isn't worth it. I would not recommend it because it's more likely going to waste your precious time.
