Catrin, a princess of Celtic heritage, is bound by her duty to protect and serve her people. She embraces this role with utmost seriousness, striving to ensure the safety of her people, even if it means going against the king's orders to steer clear of potentially destructive magic. However, when she finds herself falling head over heels in love with an adversary, her world turns upside down. Now, Catrin might be faced with a tough choice between fulfilling her obligations and pursuing her heart's desire.

Apollo's Raven is a captivating blend of history, romance, and fantasy. As an ardent fantasy enthusiast, I was impressed by the quality of the writing. The narrative moves at a brisk pace, making it nearly impossible to set the book aside. I admire how Linnea Tanner skillfully presents the perspectives of all characters, despite Catrin being the central figure. The writer skillfully intertwines the narrative among diverse themes. The story progresses through these themes, employing dialogue adeptly to convey information. By adopting a third-person omniscient narrative style, the reader gets an insight into the thoughts of royal figures. The elements of romance and fantasy are prominent in the story. Additionally, the narrative has a darker facet that discusses the magic and supernatural beliefs prevalent during this time.

What I liked the most about Apollo's Raven was the powerful female protagonist. She strikes a balance between her independence and her royal obligations. She respects the hierarchy and doesn't resist her education. Yet, she's smart and assertive enough to turn circumstances in her favor. I was also drawn to the detailed depiction of the Celtic society where the story unfolds, complete with its rugged feasts and bold warrior figures. There was nothing to dislike about this book; it was a great read.

The book appeared to be flawless, containing no errors, leading me to conclude that it was professionally edited. The characters were superbly crafted, and the story sets up the series brilliantly, with an ideal balance of suspense. For these reasons, I give the book a stellar 5 out of 5 star rating. I would highly recommend it to fans of historical fiction, romance, and those who enjoy a thrilling, action-packed narrative.
