Apollo's Raven by Linnea Tanner is a historical fantasy novel that is set in 24 AD Celtic Britain. It is a story that combines sorcery, mythology, and politics in a beautiful masterpiece. Catrin, a Celtic princess, unexpectedly finds out that she has magical connections to ravens. Her new-found gift could bring either triumph or death for her people. Catrin's treacherous brother, Marrock, who was banished, has now returned with Roman allies to inflame the battle. Amid these Roman threats, she meets Marcellus, with whom she embarks on a forbidden romance. They are tasked with eliciting details of secret plans from each other, but this game of deceit gradually develops into a full-blooded romance. Things escalate, and Catrin finds herself torn between love and duty. Will Catrin's prophetic powers and shape-shifting abilities be instrumental in countering Marrock and thereby saving her father? This book is a real page-turner of twists, romance, and clashing cultures. Read on to find out if their love will stand the test.

I love how this book offers a vivid portrayal of their beliefs and daily lives in the Celtic culture. This captivating story of forbidden love and mystical adventure blew my mind. The rich descriptive prose and dynamic characters draw you into a world where ancient curses and supernatural powers collide with the harsh realities of Roman political intrigue. The tension between Catrin’s loyalty to her people and her forbidden love for Marcellus adds layers of twists to the story. This is an exhilarating and unpredictable journey that historical fantasy fans will adore. It was interesting to see that the story features strong women characters, such as Queen Rhiannon, who enjoy equal respect and rights.

I absolutely loved this read. There was nothing to dislike about it. It was exceptionally edited with no errors. I happily give this epic read 5 out of 5 stars. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys an excellent epic fantasy with romance mixed in. It is highly enjoyable and captivating.
