The historical novel Truth and Evil is a beautiful story. I found the story and the meaning behind it to be very intriguing. As the plot unfolds, there is a soldier in the German army. He has accepted his duty as a son of Germany and as a man to fight in the military. He acts and does things that later he is ashamed of. He saw many atrocities on the battlefield. As he and a few soldiers are bombed and torn apart, he then stands face to face with God. As God talks with him, He sends him back in body for a redo. Does he make different choices the second time around? Does he correct what has plagued him? He had a very dim view of those not like him. Can his experience before God cause a change in his attitude toward others? Eventually, God tells him to decide whether he cares more about his life or his soul.

The author, G. Edward Martin, wrote a thrilling story. I wondered what soldiers in war felt as they did what they had to to survive. This story also portrays our struggle to do what is right versus what others are doing. I found the characters and situations to be believable and exciting.

This well-written book contained nothing that I found distasteful. There was no profanity, and it was very well-edited, as evidenced by the lack of errors. The storyline revolved around a soldier and war and was intriguing.

I rate this novel a five out of five stars. It was error-free and very easy to read. I found the subject matter as interesting as fiction but intriguing, as God sent him back to see how he would correct his mistakes. He had to confront his ideas of people who were different from him. Can he change his judgmental attitude?

My recommendation for the reading audience would be for mature readers. The subject matter was mature when he went from house to house and encountered a young woman hiding. It was a great story, and I found it to be thought-provoking. I thought about how I would have handled things had I been allowed to return and correct my mistakes.
