Everyone has a story to tell, the journey that they traveled and the experiences that shaped their lives. In The Road to Moresco, Mark Jamilkowski gives us an opportunity to relive the poignant and heartwarming lives of two amazingly strong women who survived the horrors of WWII. The author also covers major historical events that occurred in the 20th century. This includes the spread of fascism in Italy, WWII and the events that followed the assassination of Martin Luther King.

Mark tells the story of Maria-Luisa and her daughter Chiara. At a young age in Italy, Maria-Luisa developed a passion for music that become a large part of her life, music gave her comfort and strength that guided her during the tumultuous times of WWII. After giving birth to Chiara, Maria-Luisa immerses herself in music. And with music in her heart, Chiara gets little space in her mother's heart. Chiara grows up to resent her mother, seeing how she never truly loved her. Chiara's search for love and validation from other people lands her in the States.

This was a beautifully written story that I enjoyed reading. I commend the author on how he connected the characters' stories. Mark beautifully connects many characters from late 1800 to 2021. I also liked learning about the events that occurred in the 20th century. You will also see in the book how Mark connects these events and the characters. The book also teaches about love, and what loving someone truly means. The theme of resilience and hope also rings loudly in this book. This is evident in both Maria-Luisa's and Chiara's stories.

I didn't find any negative aspects of this book. I rate this book five out of five. The book was exceptionally well edited. This is an amazing book that will make you fall in love with the characters and it will also have you crying at some point. I recommend this book to readers who love historical fiction that is intertwined with romance.
