Apollo's Raven, by Linnea Tanner

Linnea’s Tanner’s, Book One, Curse of the Clansman And Kings Series of Apollo’s Raven takes the reader’s imagination into the historical fantasy world of Celtic Britain. Tanner’s novel is full of magic, mystery, romance, mythology, and political views. This book is for readers who enjoy a world filled with kingdoms, villages, towers, and the beautiful landscape of Britannia.

The story sets out as the main protagonist, Princess Catrin of the Cantiaci Kingdom, has visions of the Romans attacking her kingdom and goes to warn her father, King Armen. However, Senator Lucius of Rome, with his son Marcellus, and a Roman soldier named Decimus are already there. Senator Lucuis is there on the behalf of the Emperor and King Cunobelin to discuss who is the rightful heir of the Cantiaci Kingdom. King Cunobelin believes it should be Marrock, King Armen’s eldest son. King Armen disagrees with this as his eldest son had been banished from the kingdom. Nonetheless, in order to have a peaceful negotiation, both King Armen and Senator Lucius decide to trade one of their children as a hostage till the treaties are discussed over.

Queen Rhiannon and the Druidess Agnora are put in charge while King Armen travels to go meet with King Cunobelin. Princess Catrin is responsible for Marcellus and tries to get close to him in order to find out about the Romans secrets. During his stay, Marcellus and Catrin fall for each other and proclaim their love for one another. However, Catrin becomes ill and Queen Rhiannon accuses Marcellus of cursing her daughter. Marcellus is then taken away while Catrin is forced to go stay with Agnora. Will Princess Catrin get better? What will happen to Marcellus? Will Catrin and Marcellus ever be together again? What happens to King Armen during his travels? Will the Romans still attack the kingdom? To find out, I suggest you read Apollo's Raven.

I gave this book a 5 out of 5 star rating as it kept me intrigued throughout the story. Once I had started reading this book I did not want to put the book down, because I wanted to know more of what happened to the characters. I felt the author did a great job describing each character as I visualized what they looked like. I also felt the author did a good job with the details of the characters as I imagined each of their personalities. The author did a great job explaining what was happening in the story, because I could easily read the book. I definitely want to read the next book of the series, so I can find out what happens to the characters of the story. There is nothing I would change about this book as I felt it went smoothly while reading. This book was professionally edited as there were no grammar errors. This book is for mature adults who enjoy reading about a historical fantasy world of love and magic.
