A historical fiction. Interesting. A rescue mission? I like the fact that different continents reflects in the plot. The review sounded more like this is another adventure-like piece. And the title too, makes one definitely wonder. Kudos.

That title alone draws some curiosity about what it means. Without profanity and graphic content, this book attracts a broader audience. Liked your review.

I didn't connect to this story because I'm not an ardent reader of historical fiction books. Avid lovers of it would enjoy it because the plot seems engaging. Congrats on BOTD.

Though Skills of the Warramunga — a story about kidnapping, murder and other crimes — sounds intriguing, I'll read it after I've finished reading the first 2 books in the series.

I love this thrilling historical-adventure piece. There was enough action and suspense to keep the readers excited throughout. One of the things I like about stories set in history is the educative information that comes with it, one you'd otherwise not know but for the story. It was interesting to catch a glimpse of the life of the Warramungas in the early 1900s. Added to that, the story of a "kidnapped" CIA big wig is just as amusing as it is a pointer to the fierceness of the aboriginals, bandit or no bandit. If the story weren't fictional, that's an event that will make the headlines worldwide. I appreciate the author's imagination and his storytelling prowess — this book wouldn't have been interesting but for those qualities.

I have only read a preview of this book and based on your Review, it sounds very good! I do love crime, mystery, action-packed stories and with the historical element also being brought forward, it really ties this story together. I really enjoyed my preview of this book and how even though it was a mistaken kidnapping at first, the mysteries that also came undone due to it! The story starts in an action and busy section, so it keeps you tugged in from the very first paragraph.

Well done on your Review - it is very well written and I love that you also did your own research regarding the native words used!

This book sounds fascinating. Its unfortunate that the author made such an oversight by using "lubra." I believe that even if it wasn't racially offensive in 1946, it shouldn't matter, as it is still an offensive word.

I really appreciate your discussing in your review that this book does stand alone, even though it is part of a series. From your opening description, it's sound fascinating. I, too, like to read books in a series in order, and sometime a lot is missed if you don't. Isn't it great when the author understands this, and includes enough detail in a later book??
