These poems are beautiful, honest, creative ways to explain ones life and experiences. I enjoyed reading the sample and would love to read more! So interesting, thoughtful, and carefully put together.

It seems like author was going through some things. I personally am not a fan of such depictions of women. Great review.

The sample of the book grabbed my attention, for sure. I do want to read the rest. His prose is beautiful and metaphorical, yet still easy to interpret and understand. Despite the fact that you mention the negative portrayal of women, I will still read this book. I teach ESOL in public schools, so knowing other cultures' biases and beliefs is actually quite helpful to me.

Poetry is confusing to me sometimes and with the way you described the book in this review, I don't think I'll understand anything in the book. However I would love to get a hold of it to learn more about Asian-American history, I'm interested in knowing about Asians.

I have always had a soft spot for poetry, and this collection of poems seems perfect for me. I would love to read about the Asian-American experience, as I believe that we can only become better members of society if we try to educate ourselves about the needs and the amazing things different cultures bring, so we can all get great experiences.

Well, I have learned something new today thanks to your wonderful review; I had no idea prose poetry was a thing. As a book, I think I'll give this one a miss, though, due to the negative views of women throughout that you mentioned. This is a wonderfully written review.

This review got me interested, I believe the author wrote from an Asian cultural context and not to give women a negative view. The beauty of the book is shown by the author's portrayal of Asian-American stereotypes. Congrats on BOTD.

Honestly, I've always loved a good piece of poetry. Set it in prose, you've almost won my heart. This is a review in style, I like it. To be able to dive into Asian culture, touch on war, Osaki's work sounds interesting and worthy of the adventure.

I really like your review. It is easy to read and informative. It makes me yearn to read the book. I am especially interested in learning about Asian culture and the experiences of Asian migrants in America. I am strongly against discrimination of women and hopefully Osaki can correct that in his future books.

Mark S. Osaki's "Best Evidence" is a powerful collection of prose poems tackling the Asian-American experience, war, and identity. Lyrical and thought-provoking, but marred by some problematic portrayals of women. Congratulations on being BOTD!
