The Beauty of Poetry by Farah Ibrahim is a collection of poems about the good and the bad in life, sometimes loss, as well as a bit of nature. These are an eye-opening collection of poems that will make you think more in depth about each poem that was written.

The author included the year she wrote the poems and sometimes even the full dates. The poems themselves aren’t straight-forward, and the reader might have to put in a bit of effort to uncover what the author meant or what the poem means to the reader. There is an elegant illustration before each poem for the reader’s enjoyment. The book has many poems for the reader to enjoy, and they are mostly short.

What I enjoy about poems is that they can be interpreted in many different ways, and the meaning I take from them might not be the meaning of what the author meant. Trying to decipher poems is sometimes part of the fun, and that is what I did in this book, trying to figure out what the author is trying to relay or how their poems affect me personally. The author took a different approach to love than what is normally described in poems, and it was quite refreshing. Another plus about the book was that I found no errors, and the book has been flawlessly edited.

I rate this book five out of five stars because there was nothing to dislike. The poems will make you think beyond the actual words that were used, and some people might not be able to interpret them, but once you do, the effort will pay off.

I recommend this book to all poetry lovers who are adults and would like in-depth meaning when reading a book with a collection of poems.
