Well-written poetry can transcend all barriers. It can lift the sad, heal the broken, and open windows to the soul. Conversations by Toni K. Williams is a delicious selection of prose that transports the reader to a different place and time. Her authentic wordplay is refreshing and touches the reader deep inside. She explores numerous themes such as love, hate, war, death, old age, and desertion. Williams' offering is not your typical rhyming story but a narrative of wonderful, stark pictures of deserts, mountains, beaches, snow, and ice.

I love the modern artistry that divides each section. It tugs and draws the reader to the next selection. As you travel through time with Williams, the vivid descriptions cut away at your soul and bring tears to your eyes. My favorite is "Grandmother's Hands." While reading it, I could imagine my grandmother in her warm, cozy kitchen. She is baking biscuits for breakfast on a cold mountain morning, and the smells of a wood-burning stove fill the air. It is a beautiful reminder of all the things that made childhood precious.

"Suicide" was very upsetting, and Williams has a unique way of describing an alarming subject. The author delved deep into the undeniable truth surrounding taking one's own life.

There are hints of lost love, unresolved wounds, and the pain of aging too soon. What emotions will you reveal while reading this collection of life experiences? Will you not be less judgmental once you've experienced these real emotions? How can you change perfection? Why would you want to?

With superb editing and nothing requiring change, I rate the book 5 out of 5. I recommend this book to anyone searching for a chance to slow down the pace and enjoy a peaceful, relaxing read. Time wrapped in a warm blanket beside the hearth with a warm cup of coffee was heaven for me while enjoying Conversations by Toni K. Williams.
