Thanks for your review! The lack of a table of contents would have irked me as well. It sounds like the author has a strong and for the most part, clear, voice. The themes, such as fitting in, seem universal.

This collection of free-verse poems does sound like it would give you a lot to think about with topics like everyday life, society, and faith. I find it unique that the author decided to not have her poems follow a set standard and that the tone is distinct. However, I'm not a fan of when I have to take so much time to interpret the meaning behind a certain text. It makes reading frustrating for me, which is not something I like to experience. However, I'm glad that you found joy in having to shuffle through the difficulty and found this read enjoyable. Thank you for sharing!

Despite the incredibly written onlinebookclub review of the book, I found myself rating the book 2 out of 4 stars mainly because I am not a big fan of the poetry genre and the book made no effort to change my stance.

It's been a very long time since I have read poetry. I tend to have a headache sometimes deciphering what a line meant, and there would be times I would simply be amazed at the beautiful verses my eyes would encounter and bask on wonderful feeling the poem evoked. I expect both will be experienced when i get hold of this book.

Might 'witchen' in 'witchen subsconscious' not refer to the elusiveness of the subconscious and the inability to readily access the same (as in 'bewitched')? Instead of indicating the page numbers when you refer to specific poems, why not use their titles instead? In that way, your question will remain relevant to the poetry concerned, no matter which edition of the book is used, and no matter where the poems appear.

I think many readers would enjoy this collection of poems since the author questions society’s standards. Thanks for the review!

I like poetry sometimes, but I know the indecipherable wording will annoy me, and I prefer to be able to easily understand meanings. I think I will pass on this one, but you did a great job reviewing it.

Nice well written review. I haven't read a poetry chapbook in a while and your review piqued my interest so I want to give this a try.

To me, poetry is like wine--something other people talk about all the varied flavors and qualities of, but something that I rarely experience in such varied and magnificent ways. I suppose it's a character flaw of mine, but I've just never been good at understanding poetry.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

I find poems more complex and am not a fun but the review is a good trial. From the review it shows that you understand what poem is all about.

I've always loved poetry! I love this review and think I really have to read these poems. The fact that some are hard to understand is a little discouraging because I get frustrated a lot trying to understand poems that I can't. However, I respect that what you like about the book is the part where you don't understand some poems, and it's exciting for you to struggle to get the meaning. I'll have to read the book to agree with the rating though.

Your review of this collection sounds interesting. I especially love that the things you hate about the poem is exactly what makes you love them. I think that is the basis of poetry. Taking personal thoughts and spinning them, ensuring they remain ambiguous and open to the reader's interpretation.
Unfortunately, I am not an avid poem reader, so I may not read this, but your review makes it so interesting, I wish I was.
