I will love to read this book. And for me, I don't think the title is misleading because the five section lead along that part. I look forward to the African touches in the book. Nice review.

This book seems like something I would be interested in reading. “Kenya-born, Africa-bred, New York-based author.” This is such an intriguing description. Great review.

I like that the poems are diverse and free flowing. Despite the title not being what I expected, I think the poems will resonate with many who have been forced to be adults by circumstances in their childhood / journey to adulthood. Thank you for an honest and enlightening review.

The title of the book is one to always attract you to it. I think the author had to use poetry to write about her own experiences, and how life plays out. Good job by the author.

When I saw the word "adulting" I assumed that the book would focus on the new challenges that a young adult faces. I agree with your opinion because I also expected a bit of whimsy. Nevertheless, it seems to be an entertaining personal story.

Thank you for your candid review. :)

The first poems are indeed hard-hitting. Did the author go through all that? The images are certainly vivid, making the emotions palpable. Poignant pieces.

I'm not a fan of poetry but I've read the review and the book seems to dwell on pretty serious topics and the author's skills of merging the words in such a way so that readers can easily imagine themselves within the setting is really awesome. I'm sure the book will find its reader. Congratulations on becoming BOTD!

I don’t usually read poetry. However, I like free-verse and this collection sounds very powerful and deserves the read.

Teenage turning adults has its own challenges, so many hormones to fight with, and many obstacles to break, and many people looking and expecting you to break headway with little or no resources, this in itself can cause emotional meltdown or depression. Adult life might seems like a freedom, but really, it isn't. Good the author also mentioned the topic of rape and violence. Congrats on BOTD.

I find poetry to be a hard nut to crack. Therefore, I won't be reading this one. Thanks for the review, though.

Nice review. Yes, the title did mislead me too, and now am i can see that I probably would be interested to read it. I enjoy poetry and things of a personal nature, but I think the explicit and graphic scenes would put me off..and at times it does sound a little heavy and emotional

Well, I don't really enjoy poetry, so normally I wouldn't have thought to get it. But since this book is generously given for free today I can promise to read at least the half which is prose parts. Congratulations with BOTD!

I love continuity and reading poem books has always been hard for me. The only two reasons I would take up this book is that I can relate with not identifying with one's own nationality, also I love books that describe the tiniest of details in a scene. Succint review, well done!
