It looks like in his poetry O Persuad has made it point at times to breakaway from rhyme to just to speak his heart out going straight to the issue of hurt, pain, and shame, much of it is structural and systemic. He has used poetic freedom to tell it like it feels, perhaps. This is an interesting work of art. Good review on the work, looks balanced in its assessment.

Thanks for your review. Shitolian is quite an exotic slang, and it seems the poems also address some dark themes like slavery, AIDS, domestic violence, and blood diamonds.

I'm new to reading poems, and I enjoyed reading the sample. The profound messages were directly expressed even with the use of few words. As for the issue on worrying, it's easier said than done. I look forward to reading more about this book.

I have a love/hate relationship with poetry, but this collection seems to be just right combination of plain language and deep meaning for me to potentially be more on the “love” side if I were to read it.
