Thanks for the insightful review. This book sounds interesting even though it isn't in my favorite category of books. I'd like to give it a try.

I was really expecting something more whimsical, perhaps a little silly at times, to comment on the minor day-to-day inconveniences of being an adult millennial.
I completely agree with this statement, and I before this I thought that that was the most common connotation of the world "adulting", but it seems like this novel is taking a much more serious take. Not what I was expecting, but very good!

Thanks for the review! :techie-reference:

Adulting, by Lindah Mogeni, is definitely a book for adults and mature teens. The book is not the standard "traditional rhyming poetry", as we know it. The imagery is dark and sullen for the majority of the book. Other passages evoke sadness and melancholy that overrides any light-hearted intentions. It is more prose than poetry. But, then again, one man's poetry is another man's novel.

Planning to read this book? Then, read it with the expectation of colorful and evocative images brought to life in the words of a truly gifted writer. It is a mish-mash of feelings and emotions, not holding to the titling of any of the chapters. To put feelings and observations into print is a difficult accomplishment, which Lindah Mogeni does with obvious ease.

I liked the fact that the images jumped from the page and were vivid and real. I did not have to work hard to form that picture in my mind.
You may like all of it, some of it, or none of it. But, there is something for each reader in the words and imagery.

Her poetry seems to offer us glimpses of her character and background. Although I appreciate poetry I always find myself lost somewhere along it. It is almost always difficult to comprehend but sometimes the construction is so beautiful one can not help but be awed. Congrats!

I admire how the author's personal background shines through the text, as the poetry brings verbal images of a variety of places such as her hometown in Kenya, boarding school etc. Great Book

A story of being. A becoming. A glimpse of someone getting into herself. A realization of who one is. Good.

I like it most when I read a book and feel parts and parcel of the whole story. This book does just that. Nice review.

Thank you. This was a great review which not only gave an insight to some things to be expected but it makes me want to now read the book as soon as possible. I at first glance thought it was just a regular book but now I know it will be poetry with meaning.

The beauty of poetic novels is the attractive use of words. The reader feels like he's part of the story. This book does just that. Nice review.

The author's travels allow her to incorporate different cultural aspects into the poems. It seems that the different themes were able to evoke a range of emotions in the reader. Great review!

When I first saw the book, I also thought this would be more a lighthearted book, however, the review makes me think twice about reading this book. The topics of book aren't really something that I normally read and typically try to stay away from. I am glad that this book was well written and is as good as the reviewer says.

I, too, expected a different kind of work based on the title. While your review has piqued my interest, I am very picky when it comes to poetry, so will have to check it out for myself. Thanks for a great review!
