Poetry which deals with relevant or sensitive themes is intriguing to read so I’m looking forward to experiencing Osaki’s talent in touching topics about war and race. Though sometimes poetry is difficult to decipher, the challenge in its deep meaning is something I’m always in for.

I'm not much of a poetry reader but Mr. Osaki's are very easy to read and understand. I feel it is also a very diverse read giving a greater look into the Asian stereotypes. Although only reading a sample, I would be interested in reading more.

"Best Evidence" by Mark S. Osaki. An interesting prose poetry written in prose, short but intense. Has lots to do with the Asian-American experience, the second and third on war, and the final section a mix of various themes. Osaki's book makes you to have that intense feeling and emotions while reading. Congrats on your #BOTD.

I do not usually read prose poetry, and I’m hesitant to read this book due to the potential negativity towards women mentioned in the review.

Best evidence seems to cover a lot of interesting topics, like the psychological trauma left on the Vietnamese people in America after the Vietnam War. And what I did not like about Osaki's work is the negative depiction of women. I think everyone should be treated with due respect and equality. Congratulations on BOTD!

Wow! I truly enjoyed reading your review of this book. I love poetry, especially prose, so I am excited to read these poems. I agree with you that most likely the sexism in this book has a lot to do with the Asian culture and because of that, is included in Osaki’s poetry.

Thank you for your well written, and thorough review, and I look forward to reading this book.

Those who enjoy evocative poetry will appreciate this collection of prose poetry by Mark S. Osaki about racial prejudice faced by the Asian American community.

Why, tho? The inferior portrayal of women is kinda frustrating. Although these are offensive, I think there are still some people would agree to his perspective. cause he has the best evidence, right? Thank you for a detailed review.

A book of poetry about personal reflection and experience, from the perspective of an Asian-American soldier sounds like a worthy one to read. With the sample I read, I thought the poems were descriptive, well-written, and easy to understand. I look forward to reading more. Great review!

The poems in the sample led me to reread them as the words started to draw pictures of history in my head. Each read brought the pictures into greater clarity. The use of normal words in prose to illicit such kindred feelings is nothing short of amazing. While the culture is not well-known to me, the feelings that are drawn out of me as I read are universal. The review helped to affirm my reaction. Thank you.

I like that the book sheds light on the wars that happened in the past, but it is sad that it sheds a negative light on women. I would have loved to get it.

Today's book is a collection of poems that appear to examine social issues through the eyes of an Asian-American. It appears to be more accessible to a wider audience because it is written in prose. Congratulations on being chosen as Book of the Day!
