I find the idea of someone looking back on their life and commenting on its upsides and downsides to be fascinating. I like the few poems I was able to read before writing this comment. The addition of Spanish under the English text was something new to me. This is the first book I have seen which has such a feature.

Thanks for this insightful review. 📝

Contemplacion by Ileana Gonzalez Monserrat offers a unique blend of English and Spanish poems. The writer's clear language and fighting spirit shine through, depicting her journey of overcoming challenges. The inclusion of personal photos adds a personal touch, and the mixture of languages adds an intriguing layer. The book's message on poetry as the voice of our collective soul resonates well.

It's always nice when people share their life struggles, and we as readers get to rethink our steps from their guidance. Poetry brings out this picture clearly. I hope to learn more from the English poems in the book. Congrats!

I don't speak Spanish, but I speak Portuguese, so I could probably understand to some extent. Especially, since it doesn't use complex words. It would be interesting to see if there are any overall differences between the Spanish and the English poems.

Thank you for your insightful review of Contemplacion. Thoughts and Poems. by Ileana Gonzalez Monserrat. I am intrigued by the idea of a bilingual poetry book that has poems in both English and Spanish. I don't know Spanish, but I would love to learn more about it and the Cuban culture and history. I think reading this book would be a great opportunity to expose myself to a different language and perspective. I appreciate that you mentioned that the poems are clear and encouraging, and that the writer has a fighting spirit. I admire people who overcome their challenges and share their stories with others. I will definitely check out this book and see if I can enjoy the Spanish part as much as you did the English part. Congrats on #BOTD!

The way she has emphasized the words 'In solitude' in the first poem and the way she state facts so bare, her words show power like no other. The words are indeed committed to her and it shows how much power she has over those powerful strings of letters. She even advices to get out and feel real. I don't know Spanish.. but the English ones were good to read and some of the advices she tries to put through those are really good.

The collection strikes me as both moving and intimate, particularly with its bilingual presentation of poems in both English and Spanish. It's intriguing how the book delves into profound themes such as overcoming personal trauma, providing a source of strength for those grappling with difficult experiences in life.

How interesting to have a book of poetry in two languages but then not translating them. I wonder if this will incentivize people to want the learn new language, if they don’t understand both, or to just ignore the unknown language. Or avoid the book all together. A novel perspective, well done on #BOTD.
