Between slavery to a more personal touch, it sounds like this book really brings a variety of topics to the poetry lover.

This is a great review but I am not a lover of poetry. My mum on the other hand will think all her Christmasses have come at once as I have now bought this for her birthday :D

Even though I never was, or I believe ever be, able to understand and fully appreciate poetry, I am deeply moved by the titles of 4 sections. Especially the first one considering that my family tradition to respect the roots and history of each leaf on our tree. It is such a shame I get so easily confused and lost in rhymes and rhythms. Still, congratulations on BOTD!

Poetry is a really strong topic. A book on it would be bad. Would definitely try to get myself a copy. Poets are to be appreciated, and I hope others realize this for a fact. Great review, lest I forget.

I am not a fan of poetry, but I am a fan of others expressing themselves how they see fit.

The cover page of this book is alluring. I like the morals embedded in the poems. The author did a good job.
Your review was insightful.

I am glad the author writes simply since I am not usually one to enjoy poetry. Thanks for the straightforward, honest review!

These poems are interesting. I am compelled to read this book. I hope I enjoy it as much as it's described. Simplicity might be the first poem I'll read before others. Great review.

The author does a masterful job of capturing the sadness and pain of the subjects in the poems. For those affected, slavery and racism are very real. I like that the author wasn't harsh with her words, but still conveyed her message. Congrats on a well-written book of poems and being selected for BOTD.

While I enjoy reading introspective books, I'm not a fan of poetry. Hence, I'll have to pass on this one. But congratulations on being listed as Book Of The Day.
