A nice book to read and the author did a good job diversifying this book on Spanish and English and I would love to know and learn from the author's experiences.

I am terribly sorry to say that I will have skip this book, because I only read for recreation purposes and, unfortunately, Drama and Poetry was never my idea of entertainment. No offense, it is just my personal preferences, and I am sure the book will easily find its intended readers, so congrats on BOTD!

This book is a collection of poems. The author alternates poems in English and Spanish, since she speaks both languages. She, the author, is originally from Cuba and has traveled to many places. Her poems highlight the beauty of the places she has loved most. Good job #BOTD

Everyday, every time I open up my Instagram or other social media platforms I find random quotes about life, motivations and at first I pause to read them but now they are all just rumblings about… I stopped pausing for them. Similarly about poetry and books. When I was in school I read both classics and pulp fiction books I got from train stations and airports. It’s a good memory but what I see on social media now is excessive consumption of unrealistic expectations in the name of reading. I am not for that even though I am not against it.
Finding this book on OnlineBookClub one random evening when I came home from hospital I was not only curious and thrilled but more.
Embedded with academic sophistication and wisdom collected from slices of life, I will read, re-read on multiple accounts of my life. I have greedily written down some of my favourite lines, poems with a strong force of motivation. Dos and Don’ts written down in the literary soluble book. Great Evening reading and I will as well read it in train on my way back and forth to work tomorrow and following… I’ll use them as my Mantras, daily affirmations

While I find poetry beautiful, I have difficulty understanding it. As such, I will pass on this book. However, I like that the author included both English and Spanish versions of the poems; we do not often see bilingual books. Thanks for the review!

Thank you for your thoughtful review of, "Contemplacion: Thoughts and Poems" by Ileana Gonzalez Monserrat. I am not familiar with Spanish but that doesn't take away from the author's poems in English. It is an interesting way of presenting her book of poems in a bilingual way as she shares her life both in Cuba and in the US. Congratulations to the author for BOTD.

Good review. I am not into poems, but the fact that you enjoyed it despite the Spanish portions means the poem should be overall good. Readers who have suffered from the absence of a parent in their childhood and enjoy travelling may enjoy this book.

The fusion of English and Spanish poetry paints a vivid picture of her diverse experiences, and I appreciate the accessibility of her language. Monserrat's words are a reminder that amidst life's challenges, there's a resilient spirit within us, urging us to stand tall.
I believe in something greater than myself.

Lol, why I thought the book was in Spanish, was it hard enough to read the book? However, your review was amazing and gave me a clear view of the book and it's poems, and the author's love for places, especially in Turkey and America.
I value the learning process through feedback. If you have a moment, I'd be grateful for any thoughts on my work to help me enhance my skills. :tiphat:

Monserrat's poems are also well-crafted and beautiful. She is a skilled poet, and her poems are full of imagery and metaphor. Her poems are also very readable. Congrats on #BOTD
