Official Review: So that you peer into my aoul

That You Might Peer into My Soul is a collection of poems written by Dylan Thomas Altenhofen. The poems explore the pain and despair that the author went through as he battled with thoughts of suicide and worthlessness. These thoughts tormented Dylan so much that he wanted to take his own life at the young age of 20. Can you even imagine what could drive a young man to such an extreme?
It is not all dark and gloomy, though, as the author finds solace and his will to live by writing this book. His newfound desire to live is also attributed to God and to a young girl whom he is destined to find someday. Further, most of the poems talk about Valhalla, God, death, heaven, hell, and a promised land.
When I downloaded That You Might Peer into My Soul, I was captivated by the book’s cover, as it communicated something deep and profound. And to be honest, I was not disappointed because the poems were sincere and heartfelt. Indeed, I was often overwhelmed by the emotions the author communicated through his poems.
Furthermore, it was evident that Dylan had been suffering from anxiety and depression for a long time, and so I commend him for having the courage to channel his feelings into a book. Indeed, so many people are suffering from anxiety and depression in this current world, and I am sure they will appreciate knowing that they are not alone.
The only issue I had with the book was that I could not relate to some of the poems, as I found them a bit confusing. However, it could be that I did not clearly understand the author’s message in those poems. I enjoyed the rest of the book, though. And I must confess that through the poems, I was able to peer into the soul of the author, as he intended.
All things considered, I rate That You Might Peer into My Soul 4 out of 4 stars. The minor issue I had with it wasn’t enough for me to subtract a star from the rating. Also, I believe it was professionally edited, as I found just a few errors in it. I would recommend it to anyone suffering from anxiety and depression. Lastly, there were a few mentions of God and Jehovah, but I believe the book is suitable for both religious and non-religious people.
