Official Review: endeavors to comprehend didactic poetry
endeavors to comprehend didactic poetry is a poetry book by Glen Harris. The book comprises of several poems written using the didactic method. Didactic poetry refers to poetry that is instructional and informative, which could be in terms of providing moral lessons. The poetry in this book is a compilation of the author's epiphanies and random thoughts about life in general. At sixty-five pages, this book is short but sweet. It may be a quick read, but its content is dense.
There are various things I enjoyed about this book. I like the disclaimer that the author put out right at the start of the book. I also really like Glen Harris's writing style. To me, it came across as personal, and there was an intimate element to his poems. The poems made me feel like I was taking a glimpse into his mind. Reading this book was refreshing, and it gave me a feeling of comfort. I feel like the author voiced a lot of issues that hit close to home.
Another thing that I love about endeavors to comprehend didactic poetry is how relatable its content is. The book covers a wide range of topics. Some of them include war, loneliness, depression, and being different. I am sure because of the way these issues were highlighted in this novel, a lot of readers will be able to connect to this book. I think that these are topics that a lot of people have either felt or noticed.
The only minor critique I have for this book is that I wish it were divided into sections or chapters. Reading became tedious at times. I feel like if the book had these things, it would break the monotony of reading one poem after the other continually.
Overall, I am going to be giving endeavors to comprehend didactic poetry a rating of 4 out of 4 stars. I like the general feel of the poetry. I could connect with a lot of poems, and I think they will be very impactful to readers out there. I would say the book was professionally revised because I did not encounter any errors whatsoever while reading.
This book does not contain any content that is sexual. The book also does not employ the use of vulgar or expletive language. I would recommend endeavors to comprehend didactic poetry to readers who like modern poetry. I think that many poetry lovers will enjoy reading the various poems contained in this book. I would not recommend this book to readers who do not like poetry in general.
