Lone Wolf Poems is a collection of poems that tell the thoughts of a man that can be felt by every other person in the world. Ramon Salles, the poet, has struggled with bipolarity for many years. This affliction is reflected in the contradicting nature of his poems. In one poem, he sounds hopeful. And in the very next, he resorts to being the most hopeless and depressed person. As the name suggests, Lone Wolf Poems speaks of a man who feels alienated and marginalized from society due to his ailment. Still, many of his poems can be relatable to any ordinary person. Few of the poems are written in Spanish.

One of the best things about this book is that it can be relatable at many times. I especially enjoyed the poems titled ‘Talk’ and ‘True Love’. Unfortunately, this is where the positives of this book come to an end.

Apart from some poems, sadly, this book should not have been published. These are the kind of poems that a person writes for themselves, to make peace with their own mind. Unfortunately, Salles did not do a good job of converting his inner musings into a poetic piece that appeals to the reader. The poems are written in free verse. This means that not many rhyming schemes or poetic devices have been used. Despite being relatable, the poems do not leave a lasting impression on the reader. I wish more time had been given to the structuring of the poem and the words used. Right now, it appears more like random thoughts of a person than a structured poem.

In conclusion, I would give this collection of poems 1 out of 4 stars. The book can be worked upon in a lot of ways that have been mentioned above. If possible, I would have given it half a start more, as there were still some parts of it that I enjoyed. The book seems to be professionally edited but there were still some mistakes that I found.

I would not recommend this book to many people. If the poet works on it more, I believe that the book can be a good read. For now, I will recommend this book to ardent fans of poems who are looking for a new or adventurous read or poet. Apart from this, I will recommend this book to someone who can understand the difficulties that come with bipolarity or any other such impediment.
