Review of Poetic Tattletales

Poetic Tattletales is a fantastic collection of short poems. It was written by Patrick James Quaker. This book comprises thirty-two pages. It is a collection of poems that seek to discuss new day challenges in a unique and different way. The poet skillfully discusses contemporary issues we face by highlighting them in his poems. This book begins with a poem about Caesar, who seems afraid to let himself feel loved. We are taken through his ordeals as his admirer tries to convince him to "set a course on a riding horse" with her. Caesar, however, "fears the closeness of her hand." What becomes of Caesar and his lover?
The book progresses, and we come across another poem, "Spend to Win." This poem narrates the ordeal of a gambler who played the lotto. The poet describes the pressure, and the persona's money infatuation was highlighted. Did he win the lottery? What other mind-blowing poems does the poet have in store for the reader?
There are many things to appreciate about this book, Poetic Tattletales. I loved the fact that the poet tried his best to create relatable scenarios with his work of art. While reading this book, in some instances, I felt like the poet was telling a fantastic story that related to our real life. I enjoyed some poems in particular, like "Caesar," "Tunnel of Time," "Spend to Win," and so on. Also, I found the use of rhymes by the author endearing. It beautified the poems and made them enjoyable to read. For instance, in "Spend to Win," the persona states that he is "hear to fear the dear with the moola ear." It took me quite a while to appreciate this line, and after I did, I felt it added to the book's beauty. I also admired the author's unique captions for each poem. Their titles seemed well thought out and out of the ordinary. While reading this book, you would come across poems titled "Cap Map," "Bikini Lamp Shade," and "Not a Student of Foolishness."
Also, the poems were short and easy to read. I found it very convenient that each page contains a new poem. I found myself reading continuously, and with a flip to the next page, I was always curious to read the following poem. I must commend the poet. I can't remember when last a work of poetry made me this satisfied. The poems were written in a great manner. The poet continuously engaged my imaginations with his skillful use of words, especially when it came to the title of each poem. Finally, this book was exceptionally well edited; I found no errors in it.
I tried so hard to spot a negative aspect of this book. However, the only issue I had with the book was the poet's use of complex words. Some poems were complicated to appreciate. The poet would have written the poems without trying to be so mysterious. Aside from this, I could not spot any other negative aspects.
I rate this book four out of four stars because I had a fantastic time reading it. I did not give it a lower rating because the negative aspect I mentioned did not affect my overall enjoyment of the book.
I recommend this book to lovers of poetry. Anyone looking for a quick read with so many collections of poems would have a fantastic time reading this. All in all, this was worth every piece of my time.
