Have you ever sat down to ponder about the creation of man and his purpose? Could man have been given another way out of life rather than death? Death seems to be a scary and inevitable end of man.

Life of a Bubble by Hamid Modjehi is a brilliant collection of short poems. These poems focus on man's life, destiny, purpose, and death which is an inevitable end, suffering, sorrow, love, friendship, and so on. These poems are the poet's thoughts and views about certain life issues and topics.

These poems seem to answer some of man's questions. It also posed more questions for reflection and meditation. The poet talked about such themes as the joy of birth and the struggles of life and death. This book also highlighted the joy and importance of friendship and the need for wisdom which can never be overemphasized.

The book has some positive aspects. To start with, the diction is straightforward to comprehend. The writer used unambiguous and straightforward words which do not require constant use of the dictionary. Most of the poems were easy flowing. The poet made use of relatable words. Also, most poems were very thrilling and enjoyable. In addition to that, the poet evoked different emotions from me at different times. Some of the poems seemed to connect deep to something higher or pass a great message. For instance, I felt the poem Resting Place had some deeper meaning. It felt as though the poet was reminding me of what lies ahead after our journey on earth. This poem taught me different lessons and reminded me of things I must have forgotten; for instance, I was reminded that the ground we step on proudly would one day be our resting place, irrespective of our current position or status.

Nevertheless, the book also has its negative aspects. The first is the unnecessary repetition and over-emphasis on specific issues. Some of the poems were repeated over and over again. This made reading them so tiresome and boring. Also, if the poet had used specific literary terms to spice up the poems, it would have been more enjoyable, and appreciating it would have been easier.

I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars because even though it was revelatory and impactful, the constant repetition in some poems made it boring and less captivating. I did not give it a lower rating because these poems contain values that one can learn from. The book was well edited; I found no errors in it.

I recommend this book to all poetry lovers and those seeking knowledge about different issues of life or even death. Generally, those who want to read short poems would find this book appealing.

This book made me to know more about the creation of man and why death is inevitable in life. It also tells us more about why we were created and our purpose on earth.
