If there’s one thing humanity will never forget, it is the magnitude of the COVID-19 outbreak. Whether positive or negative, these effects spanned a variety of fields, including education, politics, governance, people’s existing lifestyles, and even their day-to-day activities. While the scars of the pandemic remain, the nature of adaptation that humans have learned has taught us ways to give life meaning, as well as cope, love, and eventually move on. Lori Schneider, MD, a neurologist in the United States, uses poetry to share her thoughts on life and its fundamental principles. A Brighter Tomorrow is an uplifting book created by two talented medical doctors: Lori Schneider, MD, for the beautifully written poetry; and Mark Salevits, MD, for the original photographs and beautiful paintings.

According to the author, poetry is a creative and therapeutic expression. Her book, A Brighter Tomorrow, discusses core values like writing, life during the epidemic, nature, her pets, love, patriotism, and heroism. She expresses these deeply through poetry’s varied style and simple beauty. On a broader level, she supports her work, hoping to walk into the light and welcome a fresh start. Readers will find solace in the poet’s words in this powerful book, which will take them on an immersive journey.

I was especially impressed by the author’s choice to express all of her thoughts and feelings through poetry rather than other forms of literature. This struck me as distinct and intriguing. Another intriguing aspect is her use of simpler vocabulary, which allowed me to relate to her work in a way that any layperson could understand. The book was educational in a variety of ways. The added graphic images were interesting and entertaining to look at, and I found myself engrossed in the book until the end.

There is nothing to dislike about this book because it is overly simple to read. As a result, I’m rating this book four out of four stars because of its quality, beauty, and genre. Aside from the book’s aesthetic essence, it’s difficult to find any errors in it, which adds to the professionalism of its editing. Let me not forget that another aspect of the book that drew me in was its lack of sexual content and profanity. I would recommend this book to those who enjoy poetry and art and those looking for inspiration. Those looking for more complex literary devices or figurative language should look elsewhere.

Nobody could have predicted the pandemic’s widespread devastation. Everyone on the globe has been influenced and changed. The author found insight and solace through poetry; perhaps you can as well. Lori Schneider, MD, compiled a well-organized collection.
