Power of a woman’s love is a collection of poems that illustrate the powerful yet tender love of a woman and what it can achieve. The book has such depth that it grips you instantaneously. Words have a way of tugging at one’s heart, and the author’s skillful use of mesmerizing words drew me into the book from the first poem. This book is based on the author’s experiences, which enhanced its transparency and added a personal touch.

Ramona Powell’s experiences with love—whether it came from family or friends—inspired her to compose powerful poems. All the poems delve into the struggles that women face daily. From the first verse to the last, the book is incredibly captivating. Powell captured her emotions in writing and allowed the reader to experience them alongside her.

Despite the book’s short length, there are a few poems I found impossible to read through without pausing and reflecting on how mind-blowing God’s creation is. Women are able to shoulder a lot of weight and responsibility graciously and have a way of making the burden seem lighter. The messages in every one of these poems are compelling, but there is one poem in particular that left me dumbfounded. That poem’s subtitle reads, “I forgive you.” Would you be as understanding as the writer if you had to experience the same ordeal? A very thought-provoking book indeed.

My favorite poem is the one Powell wrote in honor of her late goddaughter, Taylor. A sea of emotions engulfed me as I read through the poem because it captured the love they shared, the dreams Powell had for Taylor, and the pain of losing her. Powell dedicated this poem to all parents who lost their kids. I’m most impressed by how much the author loved Taylor and treated her like her biological child. I particularly adored the passionate writing style and the captivating visuals.

There isn’t a single thing about this book that I didn’t like; in fact, I kept reading because I connected with the author so deeply. The book was expertly put together, and I appreciate how it deliberately celebrates and spreads love amid chaotic circumstances. The poems serve as a reminder that although women are lovers and nurturers, they also deserve to be loved in return.

There was not a single inaccuracy in this book, proving it had been carefully edited. I give this book five out of five stars. The poems were excellent, and while some of them made me sad and tearful, others, like “Hate No More,” helped me understand how anger limits one’s capacity for love. Although Powell regularly refers to a God, this book is suitable for readers from all religious backgrounds. I recommend it to female readers and readers who enjoy poems with love themes.

This collection of poems sounds very compelling to read. A woman is able shoulder huge responsibilities, weight with grace and make it seem lighter indeed. A woman experiences and gives out love throughout her life in different characters. It's indeed powerful and tender.
