"Milk and Honey" by Rupi Kaur: A Review

Post by Toledo Número Tres »

"How cruel I was to myself, giving you credit for my warmth simply because you had felt it."

A Journey Through Love and Pain

I am the wounded girl, bearing scars unseen,
Trapped in a cycle of love and pain, it seems.
With each shattered dream, my heart grows heavy,
Yet I cling to hope, believing in a remedy.

Love, oh love, a double-edged sword,
It cuts deep, leaving wounds untold.
I gave my all, yet received naught in return,
Left alone to mend, my spirit left to burn.

In the depths of despair, I found solace in words,
In Rupi Kaur's verses, my voice was heard.
She spoke of love's agony, its bitter sting,
But also of healing, the joy it could bring.

With each poem read, a flicker of light,
A glimmer of hope in the midst of the night.
I learned to embrace my scars, to wear them proud,
For they tell the story of love's tumultuous crowd.

Slowly but surely, I began to mend,
Finding strength in the pain, my heart was my friend.
I let go of bitterness, of anger and strife,
And opened myself up to the beauty of life.

No longer defined by love's cruel game,
I reclaimed my power, my sense of self, my name.
For in the ashes of heartache, I found my truth,
And in healing's embrace, I discovered my youth.

So here I stand, the wounded girl no more,
A survivor, a warrior, stronger than before.
With Rupi Kaur's words as my guiding light,
I embrace the journey, both dark and bright.
